McIlroy shares Dubai lead

GOLF: Defending champion Rory McIlroy is in a six-way tie for the lead after the opening day of the Dubai Desert Classic.

The Northern Irishman shot a four-under-par 68 to share the lead with Welshman Stephen Dodd, Edoardo Molinari, Jeev Milkha Singh, Alexander Noren and Charl Schwartzel.

England’s Paul Casey is a shot off the pace with Anders Hansen, Richard Green, Alvaro Quiros and amateur Matteo Manassero.
