Migration can get Buick off to a flyer
WILLIAM Buick’s historic King George success with Adayar on Saturday will live long in the memory and the Norwegian-born jockey is fancied to start Glorious Goodwood with a bang on Tuesday.
He partners David Menuisier’s MIGRATION in the opening Unibet “You’re On” Chesterfield Cup Handicap (1.50pm).
This five-year-old son of Alhebayeb had some decent form a couple of years ago but was then off the track for 641 days before returning at Salisbury last month.
He was heavily backed that day and ran a really promising race, staying on nicely in the closing stages after being short of room a couple of furlongs out.
That run should have blown the cobwebs away and it looks like he has been laid out for this.
Undoubtedly well-handicapped off a mark of 95, he has won on good-to-soft in the past so he shouldn’t have any issue with the conditions.
His draw in 14 isn’t ideal but it shouldn’t matter too much over this 10 furlong trip and he looks like one of the bets of the day at around the 5/1 mark.
Maydanny, who won this race by five lengths 12 months ago, has to be respected, although he is now 12lbs higher in the handicap and looks too short at 6/1.

Paul & Oliver Cole’s MAJESTIC DAWN won the Cambridgeshire Handicap last September and reappeared with a decent third at Windsor last month.
Proven on heavy ground, he won’t mind any more rain and looks good each-way value at 8/1.
VICTORY CHIME has won over course and distance and generally likes running at these downhill tracks.
A winner at Epsom in April off just a 3lb lower mark, Ralph Beckett’s six-year-old can go well back at Goodwood.
He is simply too big at 33/1.
