More Tube chaos with delays and cancellations on the Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines

More chaos for London's Tube users this morning, after a broken-down train at Tottenham Court Road caused Transport for London (TfL) to suspend the line between Liverpool Street and Marble Arch.

To make matters worse, the Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and Circle lines were hit with severe delays while TfL fixed a signal failure at Paddington.

The delays come exactly a week after Boris Johnson announced plans to run a 24-hour tube service on Fridays and Saturdays, starting in September next year. While commuters and revellers praised the plans, unions said the plans were ill-thought-through.

Mike Cash, the general secretary of the RMT union, said the plan was being "bulldozed through without any proper risk assessment".

To make this plan work we need more tube staff not less if we are not going to be risking disaster at three o'clock in the morning when the West End is flooded with thousands of people fresh out of the pubs and clubs.

As it stands at the moment the night tube plans are not properly thought through and are a disaster waiting to happen.
