Morgan’s form rewarded with incremental contract
EOIN MORGAN has been rewarded for his England heroics by being awarded an incremental contract for the remainder of the season.
The Dublin-born left-hander smashed a magnificent unbeaten 110 to help England to a series-clinching victory over Bangladesh in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Morgan qualifies for a current deal having played six one-day internationals and four Twenty20 matches for England in the 12-month contract period.
Contracts can be earned using a points system with five points awarded for a Test appearance and two for both a one-day and Twenty20 cap.
Tuesday’s game in Dhaka took Morgan to the required 20 points.
Hugh Morris, the ECB’s managing director of England Cricket, insists the big-hitting Middlesex batsman is well worthy of his contract.
“Eoin has made excellent progress since making his England debut against West Indies last summer and is now an established member of our one-day and T20 sides,” said Morris.
“He has fully justified the faith the selectors have shown in him and has the potential to develop his game still further.”
