Mostro powered by Maserati: Zagato shows off its latest supercar in Lake Como
This weekend, Italian coach builder Zagato is presenting its latest supercar to the world.
The new Mostro powered by Maserati has been created in celebration of the 100 year anniversary of Maserati and the famous racing car 450 S Coupe Zagato Monster.
Until the 90's, the Monster was the most powerful front-engined race car in the world. It's futuristic shape, with a long nose, cockpit and round tail, represented some of the most advanced aerodynamic concepts at the time.
The Mostro looks a lot like the Monster, and is similarly designed for racing first and foremost, with a carbon fibre body covering its engine and six-speed transmission. It is also built to be legal for ordinary roads.
But it has a few new features added to it, which include fixed glass windows along the sides. A wide windshield, a large rear fixed-wing and doors opening with a high, forward movement.
The Mostro will make its debut in at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este near Lake Como, but is only being built as a limited run of cars. Five are being made, and all have already been sold.
