Natalie Bennett suffers car crash interview with LBC’s Nick Ferrari

Green Party leader Natalie Bennett has got her party's general election campaign off to a nightmare start, after an excruciating interview on London radio station LBC.

Bennett appeared on the station ahead of the launch of the Green's manifesto, but stuttered and left lengthy pauses when host Nick Ferrari questioned her on particular issues.

See if you can make it through the awkward exchange here:

When pushed on the Greens' plan to build 500,000 social rent homes, Bennett was unable to provide a straight answer and met Ferrari's questions with uncomfortable silences and muddled figures.

The radio host was at one point forced to ask if his guest was alright, after Bennett's constant coughing.

It was not an impressive effort, especially for a party that campaigned so vociferously to be included in the TV debates ahead of this year's election.

Earlier in the day, Bennett was criticised for an interview on the Today programme in which she suggested Vladimir Putin had to "walk away with something" from negotiations over the Ukraine crisis.

Update: Bennett has since apologised to members of her party for the interview on the Daily Politics show where she described it as a "mental brain fade" and said "it happens."
