Nigel Farage will host own prime time show on GB News
The Reform UK party leader has announced he will host a weekday evening show called “Farage” on GB News starting on 19 July, and said he “will not be taking the knee” on the show.
“Watch my new Prime Time evening show on GB News from next week. Tune into “Farage” Mon – Thurs at 7pm. I will not be taking the knee on this show!” he wrote on Twitter.
The reference to taking the knee was a nod to GB News host Guto Harri, who is not expected to appear for the rest of the summer after the channel said he breached its standards.
GB News condemned Harri for taking the knee on air in support of England footballers, after racist abuse against the team’s black players following the Euros.
In a video accompanying the announcement, he referred to his previous three year stint at LBC as “having some degree of success.”
But it comes just over a year after Farage’s contract with LBC was ended abruptly after three years at the station, following his explosive comments.
Farage had sparked outrage when he compared the tearing down of a statue of slave trader Edward Colston to the Taliban on live television.
“The Taliban love to blow up and destroy historical monuments from a different time that they don’t agree with. What we saw on the weekend was the most appalling example of mob rule,” he told ITV‘s Good Morning Britain.
