No doubts for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger over his future at Emirates Stadium
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has poured scorn on suggestions that this season will mark the end of his 20-year reign in charge of the north London club.
Wenger has been the target of supporter unrest after a downturn in form – The Gunners have won just eight of their last 20 matches in all competitions – has seen their bid for a first Premier League title since 2004 wilt.
A banner was unfurled at the club’s FA Cup fifth-round replay at Hull earlier this month which read “Arsene, thanks for the memories but it’s time to say goodbye”, although Wenger remains defiant.
Asked if he has any doubt whether he will be in charge next season, he said: “I have no doubt, no. When I do something, I do it 100 per cent. I am always committed.
“I do not worry too much about what people say. I believe in life it is very important to focus on what you’re appointed for. I am appointed to perform and do the best for my club, that’s all I focus on.”
Third-placed Arsenal, who sit 11 points adrift of leaders Leicester and six behind rivals Tottenham, return to league action on Saturday when they host Watford.
