Ferrari’s most beautiful car in recent years is a step up price-wise (you can easily the spec the car to above £200,000), though you’ll be pleased to hear it comes with carbon ceramic brakes as standard. Powered by a 570bhp 4.5-litre V8 petrol engine, 0-62mph takes just 3.4 seconds and its maximum speed is 202mph. Its mid-engined layout means it is one of the best handling cars in production. In a Ferrari of course, it’s all about the sense of occasion and you’ll certainly be making an entrance in this.
Nissan GT-R, £76,610
It’s cheap (comparatively) and indiscreet. Nissan’s four-wheel drive monster is brutally unsubtle and blisteringly fast. Powered by a 3.8-litre V6 twin turbo petrol engine, 0-62mph can be dispatched in 3.0 seconds and it will reach a top speed of 196mph. Make no mistake: it’s packed with tech and delivers on its promise in spades. The downside is it’s not always that comfortable because the ride is so firm and your speed can creep up in the time it takes to unwrap a Werther’s Original.
Audi R8, £128,710
The 0-62mph acceleration time of the 5.2-litre Quattro Plus R8 takes 3.5 seconds, which means it’s the slowest car here but it’s a difference that will go unnoticed by most drivers. It has a power output of 543bhp, a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, Quattro all wheel drive, upgraded suspension and carbon ceramic brakes. This all adds up to an agile and very able four wheel drive supercar that sticks to the road like glue. At 197mph its top speed is a shade under that magical 200 figure.
