After US markets hit record highs on Friday, the FTSE is expected to rise on the open.

ETX Capital #morningcall: FTSE100 up 9 points, the DAX higher by 27 points and the CAC40 up by 8 points

— ETX Capital (@ETXCapital) July 22, 2013

Our macro data is rather light and all of a US flavour today (probably for the best given that the news is like to be dominated by the Royal baby):

  • Chicago Fed national activity index for June is out at 13.30, expected to swell from -0.3 to 0.0.
  • Existing home sales figures at 15.00 for June are to be released at 15.00, we're expecting them to rise from 5.18m to 5.26m, but the percentage change is forecast to drop from 4.2 per cent to 0.5 per cent.
