JAZZ AT VIVAT BACCHUS
Clerkenwell dwellers not content with food and fine wine should pop along to Vivat Bacchus in Farringdon this Saturday, where jazz pianist Jason Thompson (who has entertained the likes of Bill Clinton and Michael Douglas) will be in situ with his group, the JT Band. The food and wine here is always a pleasure, but if you’re out on a date and afraid of awkward silences, this could be the answer. 8 August at Vivat Bacchus Farringdon, entry £5 after 8pm.

JERUSALEM AT THE ROYAL COURT
Jez Butterworth’s highly acclaimed play is rumbling towards its close and is one of the summer’s must-sees, so catch it before it ends. It has a pastorial setting – rare for contemporary drama – that serves as backdrop for a gaggle of radical visionaries led by super-talented Mark Rylance as Byron, who does little other than drink whisky, wheel and deal and stir trouble. Until 22 Aug, tickets £10-£25, Royal Court Theatre, Sloane Square, SW1W 8AS. Tel: 020 7565 5000.

FREE CHAMPAGNE AT 123456789
Tomorrow is like no other day this millenium. At 12:34 and 56 seconds, the time and date will read 123456789. To celebrate, Corney & Barrow will give a complimentary glass of Lanson Rose Champagne to anyone in their bars at exactly this time. Customers will also receive a voucher to buy a bottle the stuff for half price (redeemable within two weeks from any of the 13 Corney & Barrow City outlets). Offer available in all Corney & Barrow bars throughout the City.
