Owner Reynolds slapped with three month ban after Fallon incident
RACEHORSE owner David Reynolds has been handed a three-month ban and a £10,000 fine following his alleged assault on jockey Kieren Fallon earlier this month.
Reynolds was called before a British Horseracing Authority hearing yesterday after confronting Fallon and a rival owner at the end of a race at Lingfield on 20 March.
The incident happened after Fallon, only just back in racing after an 18-month drugs ban, unsaddled his mount, Elna Bright early in the race after being bumped by another horse. He in turn then collided with Reynolds’ charge, The Scorching Wind, who started as favourite but could only finish ninth of the ten runners.
At the end of the race, Reynolds was said to have angrily confronted Fallon and Elna Bright’s owner Peter Crate when stewards were called.
Lingfield officials later exonerated Fallon of any interference caused in the race, before referring the subsequent incident involving Reynolds to the RHA.
Paul Struthers, of the BHA, said: “The entry point penalty for violent conduct toward an official is a fine of £5,000 or a disqualification of three months, so the panel has gone above the entry point by disqualifying Mr Reynolds for that period and, in addition to that ban, fining him £10,000.”
Fallon said at the time: “I used to do some boxing in my younger days and I know how to defend myself. He needs to take some boxing lessons, anyway.”
