CRICKET: Australia survived a late assault by the India tail to claim a four-run victory in the first one-day international in Vadodara.
Captain Ricky Ponting (74) and Mike Hussey (73 off 54 balls) helped the Champions Trophy winners register a healthy 292-8.
India struggled to 201-7 in reply until Harbhajan (49 off 31) and Praveen (40 not out off 32) put on a record 84 for the eighth wicket before Peter Siddle crucially removed Harbhajan in the final over.
