Pietersen sorry for Tweet rant but fails to save Surrey
KEVIN PIETERSEN last night apologised for his Twitter rant which followed his omission from England’s limited-over squads for the series with Pakistan.
The out-of-form batsman broke the news of being dropped by England with an angry tweet on Tuesday, which contained an expletive.
“It came out in the way that I didn’t want it to come out,” Pietersen admitted. “It wasn’t meant for the public domain, I apologise for it entering the public domain and I also want to apologise for the language I used.”
Pietersen, meanwhile, failed to save new county Surrey from elimination in the Pro40 competition last night after Worcestershire recorded a 90-run victory at the Oval.
Making his Lions’ debut after joining on a month’s loan from Hampshire, Pietersen, inset, scored 38 from 33 balls before returning a catch to spinner Shaaiq Choudry.
Chasing a county record 40-over score of 376-6, Surrey could only manage 286 with three overs to spare despite 80 from Rory Hamilton-Brown.
