Kent police are investigating claims of electoral fraud in South Thanet – the constituency contested by Ukip leader Nigel Farage at the General Election
"Kent Police have received a report of electoral fraud. Inquiries are ongoing," Kent Police said in a statement.
The highly contested constituency where Farage made a bid to win Ukip its second ever seat in Westminster, was won by Conservative candidate Craig Mackinlay with 18,838 votes.
Farage gained 16,026 votes while Labour's Will Scobie received 11,740.
The Green Party, Lib Dems and six minor parties pulled in under three per cent of the vote. Comedian Al Murray, running for Free United Kingdom Party (FUKP) in his pub landlord character, managed 318 votes.
