Poll: Scots love Nicola Sturgeon
Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon has been rated the most popular and "widely appreciated" living person for Scots, according to new analysis.
The YouGov analysis of close to 30,000 Scottish people revealed that out of 5,000 public figures, Nicola Sturgeon is the most loved person in Scotland.

Sturgeon even beats the beloved David Attenborough, tennis player Andy Murray and Queen Elizabeth II.
Historically, however, William Wallace is the most loved Scot. Wallace was one of the leaders during the wars for Scottish independence.
Sturgeon has spoken on the prospect of a second independence referendum, and the analysis found that she "roused respect and adoration from her supporters at the packed Scottish National Party conference in October".

YouGov added: "Even when she told the hall that a resounding win at next year's Holyrood elections would not be an automatic mandate for a second independence referendum, the crowd withheld criticism, trusting the long-term vision of their First Minister. She's said she hopes to lead the party into 2021's elections, and the depth of her support, unparallelled by any English politician in recent memory, makes this a real possibility."
