CITY IS BOOMING, SAYS REPORT
Knight Frank has added Canada and the City Fringe to its Prime London index, which includes neighbourhoods such as Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Chelsea and Kensington, citing an uplift in the supply of new high end properties, improved amenities and transport. Prices in the square mile have risen by 122 per cent in the last decade, Knight Frank research shows. Grainne Gilmore, head of UK residential research at Knight Frank, says: “In the City, demand has always outstripped supply, and the recent introduction of everyday shopping One New Change has boosted the area’s appeal, as will the introduction of Crossrail in 2019. In addition, the further expansion of the technology hub around “silicon roundabout” in Old street will drive demand for homes in the City fringe.”The agent expects prices in Prime Central London, which have risen by more than 12 per cent over the last year, to rise by further 5 per cent next year, and by a cumulative 25 per cent by the end of 2016.
