Razor’s ready for a battle Royale
TRAINER Nigel Twiston-Davies has warned not to write off Razor Royale for this afternoon’s jam-packed William Hill Trophy.
The horse, who survived a final fence blunder to win the Racing Post Chase at Kempton a fortnight ago, is one of the front-runners for the three-mile chase, which features a bumper field on 23 runners.
The Alan King-trained Bensalem and David Pipe’s The Package lead the betting with the progressive Theatrical Moment, under Jonjo O’Neill, also well fancied.
But even though Twiston-Davies accepts the ground doesn’t exactly suit Razor Royale this week, the Cheltenham-based trainer says his charge should not be overlooked.
“He is improving all the time,” he said. “He always looked like winning the Racing Post Chase and it was only after he made his mistake at the final fence that he had a hard race. However, he would prefer softer ground.”
