Red Bull issue F1 quit threat and call for Audi to solve engine woe
RED BULL have reiterated their threat to abandon Formula One over frustrations with their Renault engines – unless they can persuade Audi to end their long-standing boycott of F1.
The team have taken just 30 points from the season’s first five races, and so severe have their reliability problems been that Daniel Ricciardo has already used all four of this year’s allotted engines.
Red Bull hope that managerial change at parent company Volkswagen could end Audi’s reluctance to enter F1, and get them competing with McLaren and Ferrari again if Renault fail to engineer a drastic improvement.
“If we don’t have a competitive engine in the near future, then either Audi is coming or we are out,” said Red Bull’s motorsport adviser Helmut Marko.
