PREMIER Inn owner Whitbread yesterday said rising demand outside London helped drive an 8.8 per cent rise in revenue per available room at the brand.

The company, which also owns Costa Coffee, reported a 9.9 per cent rise in the figure for the regions, compared to a slower 3.3 per cent increase in London.

Premier Inn’s performance helped drive a 6.9 per cent in Whitbread’s like-for-like sales and a 12.7 per cent rise in total sales for the three months ending 29 May.

Costa Coffee increased like-for-like sales by 4.5 per cent and total sales by 15.9 per cent. Shares in the company, which also owns Beefeater, rose 2.2 per cent.
