Ribery set to snub Blues over fears of grey skies
CHELSEA target Franck Ribery has appeared to rule out a move to England – because he is put off by the prospect of bad weather.
Bayern Munich winger Ribery looks set to leave Bayern Munich this summer, with the Blues rivalling Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona for his signature.
But the £45m-rated Frenchman, who was born and raised just across the Channel in the northern coastal town of Boulougne, has hinted that his future lies in warmer climes.
“I won’t move to England because they have the same weather as in Germany,” the 26-year-old told a French television programme.
Asked where he would like to go, Ribery added: “Honestly, I do not know, but it is a question I am asking myself frequently at this time. I will see how the situation evolves. It is not easy. I am happy at Bayern.”
Ribery joined Bayern in 2007 after two successful years in the sunnier environs of Marseille in the south of France.
New Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly made Ribery a major target, after accepting failure in his bid to land AC Milan star Kaka. The Brazilian is set to move to Real, and his £56m transfer could be confirmed as early as today. United have also been linked with Ribery, particularly if Cristiano Ronaldo completes a long-rumoured move to Real.
