RideLondon crashes injure two and hold up race
Two cyclists have been injured in separate crashes during the Prudential RideLondon cycling event on Sunday, leading to disruption for thousands of riders and diversions to the planned route through Surrey.
The first cyclist was injured at around 9am between Pyrford and Ripley and a second later at around 11am near Thames Ditton with the air ambulance called to both incidents.

A temporary route was drawn up for the 100-mile race from Surrey to Central London taking riders from West Byfleet to Ripley, taking out the well known Box Hill section of the route. The original route has since been re-opened.

Several separate races take place during the RideLondon event, including the Surrey 100, Surrey Classic and Surrey 46, with amateurs and expert cyclists alike.
Tour de France winner Chris Froome was among the professional cyclists to be held up by the incidents wich created a backlog of riders, according to organisers.
Roads across Surrey and the Capital are closed to make way for racers.
