Royal Hospital Chelsea is this weekend hosting some of the world’s top horses

London is set to increase its status as a major sport staging destination with Royal Hospital Chelsea this weekend hosting some of the world’s top horses.

The Global Champions Arabians Tour will descend on the home of the Chelsea Pensioners over three days this weekend in an event that is set to see fierce competition in the world of Arabian horses.

“London offers an exceptional setting for the Global Champions Arabians Tour,” broadcaster and the league’s stadium announcer Rhodri Williams told Morning Wire, “because it combines its status as one of the world’s most iconic cities with a deep appreciation for heritage, culture, sport, and equestrian excellence.

“In particular, the Royal Hospital Chelsea provides a truly unique backdrop, a historic and prestigious institution set within the heart of London, whose own magnificent architecture, grounds, and tradition create an atmosphere that is both elegant and distinctive.

“Hosting the tour here brings together the beauty and heritage of the Arabian horse with one of the world’s great capital cities.”

Royal Hospital Chelsea host with most

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is home to the famous Chelsea Flower Show while it also hosts a leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour, an equestrian show jumping event that concluded earlier this month.

And it represents another feather in the cap for London as a hosting city having recently staged its first leg of the Premier Padel tour and seen the return of such events as the NBA at the O2, the Laver Cup at the same venue later this year and the free-to-attend Boat Race along the Thames.

“The Global Champions Arabians Tour is the world’s premier international championship series dedicated to the extraordinary beauty, heritage, and excellence of the purebred Arabian horse,” Williams added.

“It brings together the finest horses, owners, breeders, and handlers from across the globe.

“We’ve just been to Monaco, and it goes to Miami, Las Vegas, and Scottsdale, which is a huge hub for Arabian horses in the United States.

“And it’s there to celebrate an ancient breed, while building an exciting, prestigious, and truly global future.”
