Rush hour Tube chaos with severe delays on the Central, District and Piccadilly lines as London Bridge woes continue

Soggy rush hour commuters were forced to endure severe delays on three Tube lines this morning, as signal failures held up journeys.

Transport for London said there were severe delays to all destinations on the Central line thanks to a signal failure between Queensway and Lancaster Gate, on the District line because of a signal failure at Earl's Court, and on the Piccadilly line because of signal failures at both Earl's Court and Arsenal.

Commuters have already put up with days of travel chaos at London Bridge station, where a new design has caused "dangerous overcrowding".

Today Mayor Boris Johnson will meet with bosses at Network Rail to find a solution to the problem.

Yesterday a spokesman for the Mayor said:

The Mayor shares the frustration of commuters and sympathises with them over the enormous inconvenience they've endured. He will be raising the recent disruption at London Bridge and indeed the chaotic scenes at Finsbury Park over Christmas with Network Rail when he meets with them.

The Mayor wants to hear what went wrong, and to understand what lessons can be learned and how the situation can be better managed going forward.
