Khashoggi killing: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman says attack was a ‘heinous crime that cannot be justified’
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has described the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi as a "heinous crime that cannot be justified".
In a panel discussion revolving around the Kingdom’s vision for the future of the Arab world, the Saudi Crown said this afternoon: “Saudi Arabia will go and implement all necessary rules and investigate deeply in order to achieve results. And to bring to justice those who were responsible for this heinous crime and they will be put before the courts. There's no doubt."
"We know that many are trying to use this painful thing to drive a wedge between Saudi Arabia and Turkey … Justice will be seen in the end."
Bin Salman's comments come in the wake of accusations that his inner circle were involved in the killing, prompting condemnation of the Saudi Crown Prince from business leaders and diplomats across the globe.
The news flies in the face of comments made yesterday by President Donald Trump, who told the Wall Street Journal that Mohammed bin Salman could have been involved in the death of Khashoggi, noting that “the prince is running things over there” in Riyadh.
