Red Spells Danger, a son of Cotai Glory, has found his optimum at six furlongs after early suggestions he might want further. He broke his maiden at Ripon and followed up at Hamilton, then ran with credit in stronger company at Newmarket and York. The return to Ascot, where he has already placed, should suit.

Royal Ascot winner adds class

The third major player is Havana Hurricane, trained by Eve Johnson Houghton. He announced himself with a victory in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot last season. His campaign since has toggled between five and six furlongs, but connections believe the step back up in trip, combined with the gelding operation he has undergone since his last start, could unlock further improvement.
