Shoreditch startup Pusher heads across the pond in US expansion

Pusher, a London tech startup which builds communications software for the likes of the Financial Times, Mailchimp and Github, is continuing its growth with an expansion to San Francisco.

The move comes after the startup raised an $8m (£6.2m) series A round from so-called unicorn hunter Balderton Capital and Heavybit earlier this year.

Now with a 66-strong team of techies across both bases, the firm's first international office will be used to grow Pusher's marketing, sales and customer support operations for users on the other side of the Atlantic.

Chief executive Max Williams told Morning Wire:

Pusher was founded in London, and we've been able to produce a fantastic team in the city. After our recent move to a large new office in Old Street, we're excited about the prospect of expanding further in people and product development.

In addition to this, we are establishing a commercial base of operations in San Francisco. Our customers are based around the world, and this move brings us closer to many of our larger enterprises.

Founded in 2010, other Pusher backers include Passion Capital's Eileen Burbidge, and prolific investor Bill Lee who has previously funded the likes of Tesla, Spacex and Hootsuite.
