Something for the weekend

Our guide to the best things to eat, drink, watch and do, from yoga in an Alpine lodge to a skeletal horse in Trafalgar Square. Make sure you don’t miss out.

EAT!
SLOW FOOD & LIVING MARKET
Head over to the Rosewood hotel in Holborn this weekend for a food market with an ethical twist. The “Slow” in this case has nothing to do with speed – it stands for “sustainable, local, organic and wholesome”. You’ll be able to stock up your cupboards with all manner of guilt-free food, from locally roasted coffee to fine British cheeses. rosewoodhotels.com

GAZE, THEN EAT SOME MORE!
RUBENS FOLLOWED BY LUNCH AT LE CAPRICE
If you haven’t checked out the blockbuster Rubens and His Legacy exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, you should correct that immediately. And once you’ve done that, stroll over the road to eat the exquisite modern British/European cuisine offered at Le Caprice, where you can take advantage of the excellent set menu offering two courses for just £19.75 or three for £24.25. le-caprice.co.uk; royalacademy.org.uk

GAWP!
THE FOURTH PLINTH
Britain’s most high-profile public art space, the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, yesterday welcomed its latest guest – the bones of a horse. Hans Haake’s Gift Horse is a cheeky nod to the statue of William IV that was originally planned for the plinth. A ribbon on the eerie beast’s front leg displays a live feed from the London Stock Exchange.

DRINK!
COLD
Canada Distillery (Cold) at 22-24 Bride Lane, just off Fleet Street, is the first gin distillery to open in London in nearly 200 years. You can tour its facilities, book a tasting session with a gin expert or simply sip fine gin in the retro bar. cityoflondondistillery.com

EXERCISE!
SWEAT LODGE YOGA
Burn off some of those daily Pret sandwiches at City institution Coq d’Argent. The lessons take place in the restaurant’s rooftop “ski lodge” – Lodge d’Argent – every Saturday at 10am. Tickets are from £25 and you’re encouraged to hang around afterwards for some brekkie. coqdargent.co.uk
