India win through in a thriller
CRICKET: India held off Sri Lanka by three runs to clinch a thrilling first one-day victory, which saw the second highest aggregate of runs in an ODI.

Virender Sehwag smashed six sixes and 17 fours in his 146 as India posted an imposing 414-7.

But Tillakratne Dilshan then smashed a quickfire 160, while captain Kumar Sangakkara added 90 off 43 balls, but Sri Lanka fell just short on 411-8.

South Africa hold the record for the highest successful run chase, with 438-9 against Australia in 2006.

Stade duo sorry for gouge rap
RUGBY UNION: Stade Francais pair Julien Dupuy and David Attoub have apologised for their actions after being cited for eye-gouging in their Heineken Cup defeat by Ulster last Saturday.

The pair appear in Dublin tomorrow to answer the charges, and said: “We want to apologise for the negative image we’ve created.”

Punishments range from a 12-week ban to a maximum of three years.

Crusaders make move north
RUGBY LEAGUE: Super League side have sparked controversy by completing their move from south Wales to Wrexham.

The ex-Bridgend club will play 11 of their 13 home matches at the Racecourse Ground in a move described as “the only realistic option to ensure the survival of the club.”
