Spread betting on golf

THE absence of Tiger Woods from the Masters this year means we have one of the most open tournaments in recent memory.

It is very difficult to split the top contenders, but golf betting is no longer just about who is on top of the leaderboard. By having a spread bet on the Masters you can take positions about players, opposing those who you think might miss the cut and siding with those that you feel will be in the running on Sunday afternoon.

Sporting Index’s Finishing Position market is one of the firm’s most popular and predicts the final ranking of each player. If you think the player in question is likely to do better than predicted, you sell his finishing position, and if you think he is going to struggle, you buy.

Adam Scott, last year’s winner and one of the most consistent players in Majors, is understandably at the head of the market with a quote of 20-23. So, for those of you who are confident about him following up you would sell and if he got his second Green Jacket you would make a profit of 20 times your stake. Similarly, if he disappointed and ended up 44th, you would lose 24 times your stake.

The beauty of spread betting means you can trade in and out of a bet during the tournament.

So if you fancy a player to get off to a flying start before possibly fading, you can sell their finishing position and then close out the bet, locking in a profit.

This could be an option for those punters who fancy the chances of Fred Couples. The 54-year-old from Seattle is in love with this course and regularly starts well. He was tied for fourth after the first round last year and spread bettors can sell him at 39 with Sporting Index pre-tournament.

Another option for customers is the Masters Leaderboard market where points of between five and 100 are awarded for players finishing in the top 10. This is a good market to get involved in, particularly if you fancy some outsiders as your exposure is limited and the rewards are potentially huge.

Sporting Index are again offering all Morning Wire readers an exclusive offer which covers the first £100 of any potential losses, so now is the time to try the most exhilarating betting experience around. Visit www.sportingindex.com/city100 to find out more details.
