Stansted Airport chooses Mace as main contractor for new £150m arrivals terminal

London Stansted Airport has awarded construction company Mace a £150m contract to complete its new arrivals terminal.

Work on the new terminal, which is projected to cost between £120m and £150m, is due to start in the spring and is scheduled to be completed by 2020.

The new terminal is the flagship project in the airport's £600m transformation, which will also see improvements to its existing terminal. The new arrivals terminal will feature larger immigration and baggage reclaim areas, new retail facilities and a public forecourt.

Stansted chief executive Ken O'Toole said: "Mace has a great track record of delivering major projects like this on time, on budget and to the highest quality. London Stansted’s transformation project is really gathering momentum. We’ve made fantastic progress so far, but it’s this year when the project starts to take-off when work begins on our arrivals terminal. The terminal is the most significant contract the airport has awarded as part of this project, and when complete it will provide a first-class, technology enabled, experience for our passengers.”

Stansted Airport is the third largest in London and serves over 27m passengers a year.
