Starling Bank partners with Direct Line to simplify insurance process

Starling Bank customers will now be able apply for Direct Line insure through the challenger bank's app

Challenger bank Starling has partnered with insurance firm Direct Line to allow customer account holders to use its app to apply for home cover.

The tie-up will allow Starling customers to connect with the insurer’s Churchill brand through the bank’s ‘marketplace’ app.

Customers will also be able to access information on their policy through their Starling bank account.

Starling chief executive Anne Boden said: “Churchill is a well-known and trusted brand and we are both committed to using technology to financially empower our customers.”

“Partnering with Churchill means Starling customers will save valuable time and effort on their house insurance.”

The UK’s largest motor insurer said it was important to streamline the insurance experience and said it was part of the company strategy to innovate and make the process easier.

The partnership will use application programming interface (API) technology, which Direct Line said would provide seamless access to insurance services through the banking app.

“We recognise that the platform economy provides significant opportunities to streamline the insurance experience,” Direct Line director of partnerships Rob Fleet said.
