Stoke romp to first away win since August

STOKE boss Mark Hughes hailed his team’s change of style after the Potters won their first away game in the Premier League since August.

Christian Benteke’s early strike earned Aston Villa the lead yesterday, but goals from Peter Odemwingie, Peter Crouch and Steven Nzonzi put the visitors ahead at half-time before Geoff Cameron’s late effort crowned a 4-1 victory for Hughes’ men.

“The third goal had 16 or 19 passes before we stuck the ball in the net so maybe that was an indication of what we are trying to do,” said Hughes, who took over a Stoke side last summer that was renowned for its direct style. “We got on the ball and knocked it around, but the difference today was we had a cutting edge.”
