Some Revolut customers have been left unable to sign in to the banking app due to a technical issue.

Customers of the fintech giant took to Twitter to report seeing an error message when they tried to log in to its app, with some complaining of long waits to speak to customer service agents.

A problem with the app’s sign in system was detected just after 1.30pm, according to Revolut’s website.

@RevolutApp I’m really sorry but I still cannot get into my account, and since I’m abroad I’m quite embarrassed at the moment…

Revolut offers customers services including fee free currency exchange, commission free stock trading, and cryptocurrency exchange, as well as a pre-paid debit card.

One Twitter user complained of being out of the country and unable to access their account.

“I’m really sorry but I still cannot get into my account, and since I’m abroad I’m quite embarrassed at the moment,” they said.

Another complained of being unable to use the app’s trading services, tweeting: “Card payments and ATM withdrawals might be working as normal. But do you know what’s not? Revolut Trading. Can you maybe take a guess at a potential downside to not being able to access an account used for buying and selling stock when the market opens? Because I can…”

@RevolutApp Hello, I tried to connect to the app and it's impossible. I tried to contact someone through the app also impossible. I also called but it's an automated service that tells me to connect to the app. Can I get some help?

A Revolut spokesperson said: “We are currently experiencing a technical issue that is preventing some customers from logging into the app.”
