Telecoms and energy companies have come out bottom in a customer satisfaction survey, and with average approval ratings of 69 and 68 per cent, respectively, the sectors are clearly failing to impress customers.

BT clocks in at 63 per cent, TalkTalk at 64 per cent, Vodafone at 66 and EE at 68 per cent, putting them all near the bottom of the ranking across all sectors.

Richard Lloyd, executive director of Which?, said it was particularly troubling that such “essential” services as telecoms and energy were under-performing:

Long suffering customers deserve better, as once again essential services that we all rely on have been caught falling down on how they treat people.

Poor results are nothing for a company to sniff at, as nine in 10 also said that bad service had put them off using the same company again.

Banks’ popularity, meanwhile, is on the rise. The finance sector comes out top for customer satisfaction, with approval at a 77 per cent average.
