Terry and Drogba targeting Gunners after shaking off the losing habit
CHELSEA captain John Terry has urged his team-mates to re-establish their early-season momentum by beating Arsenal in Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash.
Having started the campaign with a six-match winning streak, the Blues lost their way slightly by succumbing to back-to-back defeats against Newcastle and then Manchester City.
But normal service was resumed when Marseille were easily despatched 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, and Terry is now eager to continue in that vein against the third-placed Gunners.
“Nowadays you’re not going to go the whole season without suffering a defeat and it’s about how you respond,” said Terry.
“We have another big game on Sunday and we’re fortunate the games come thick and fast now and we can get on with it.
“It’s good to get back to winning ways against Marseille and hopefully that continues.”
Chelsea will be boosted at the weekend by the return from suspension of Didier Drogba, who has become Arsenal’s nemesis in recent seasons by plundering a remarkable 12 goals in just 10 starts against the north Londoners.
“It was important for us to win against Marseille for the confidence,” said Drogba. “Arsenal is a big team, they’ve been playing well at the beginning of the season but we’re at home and have to do everything to win.”
