Tesla’s Model 3 sedan on sale in China as Elon Musk plans to increase global operation

Tesla's new Model 3 sedan is now available to order in China as the company continue to expand its global operation, particularly targetting the Asian market.

On the company's website it says that Model 3 deliveries to China will begin in 2019 and Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed via his Twitter account that they will likely start in March or April.

Musk said the company will use "dedicated roll-on, roll-off fast ships" to transport the vehicles to Asia from Europe during next year's first quarter in order to provide prompt delivery.

"Major focus on minimising time from factory to new owner," he said "Did not fully appreciate the working capital impact until recently."

Musk previously stated in October that he expects global demand to reach almost one million Model 3 vehicles per year in the long-term and they have already sold just under 90,000 since September.

The European and Chinese markets are set to be important sources of growth for the company and it plans to move factories to both Europe and Asia to increase production capacity and ease delivery logistics.
