The INSIDER

I travelled all the way to Beverley on Wednesday and saw a very nice two-year-old filly win the Hilary Needler. Don’t Tell Mary is one to look out for and now I fancy her to follow-up in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. Sadly, the evening ended on a bad note when Manchester United were taught a lesson by a rampant Barcelona.

Sir Michael Stoute has got his string in good form and as the MAIN AIM of this column is to find winners, I will be backing this four-year-old colt in the Timeform Jury Stakes at Haydock tomorrow. Apprentice Louis-Philippe Beuzelin is very good value for his claim as he showed when steering home Desert Creek last weekend. Therefore, it may also pay to side with SALEROSA in the Doncaster 5.50pm contest.

I’m not one to go around looking for ones to lay, but if SAYIF (Haydock 4.10pm) trades at 5/4 or shorter, I may look to take him on, either prior to post time or in-running. He ended last season as the highest-rated maiden in training. He’s turned it around with a win as a three-year-old, but I didn’t think he looked all that genuine and I would be keen to take him on at short prices.
