My two bankers of the meeting are both running this afternoon. I’m also going to be backing my first Paul Nicholls trained runner of the Festival!
Let’s get the bankers out of the way and then concentrate on a handicap. MASTER MINDED (10%) must win today. Timeform rate him 11 points higher than any other runner – his official rating is five pounds better than anything else and he has won the race twice before. I’m confident that he will make it three Queen Mother Champion Chases on the trot and hopefully we might even get some odds-against. LONG RUN (10%) is my banker of the meeting. His jumping at times hasn’t been 100%, but today I’m expecting a top draw round and a change of pace to suggest he will be a threat in next year’s Gold Cup.
The horse I fancy to add to the coffers is SHADOW DANCER (3% e/w). This Jonjo O’Neill runner has sneaked in off ten stone one pound in the Coral Cup (4.00pm) and I can see him receiving plenty shrewd money in the betting ring. Take an early price as I can see this being a third of the price or less at race time.
