DIRECTOR OF DOUGLAS & GORDON

FAR fewer people are opting to move house since the cost of moving has become prohibitive for many homeowners. With current economic uncertainty we were expecting lower applicant numbers in September, but we were surprised by how they held up.

We could be at a pivotal point in the market since rents are increasing substantially and mortgages are at record lows. Many people are giving serious consideration to finding somewhere to buy rather than continuing to rent.

The number of valuations is down by 20 per cent year-on-year and with supply likely to decrease over the next quarter and demand increasing, it appears to be an excellent time to be sell your home.
