The millionaire towns in capital commuter belt
HALF of the houses on the market in commuter town Beaconsfield, Bucks, are valued at over £1m, a survey out today from primelocation.com reveals.
At 47 per cent, the town has the highest proportion of seven-figure homes in the country.
Indeed, the top fifteen towns with the highest percentage of million pound houses are all in London’s commuter belt.
The top five are rounded off with Virginia Water in Surrey, with 44 per cent of houses on sale valued at over £1m; Much Hadham, Herts, with 38 per cent; Radlett, Herts, at 37 per cent; and Cobham, Surrey, with 33 per cent.
London as a whole comes in at number 41, with 13 per cent of homes for sale valued at over £1m.
The first non-London commuter town in the survey is Haddington, near Edinburgh, which comes in at number 16 on the list.
Nationally, 3.5 per cent of houses for sale are valued at over £1m.
“All of the towns on this list manage to combine the best of both worlds, offering a spacious, quiet environment while still being an easy commute to a major city,” said Nigel Lewis, analyst at primelocation.com.
