The most expensive (and cheapest) seaside towns to live in Britain
The priciest coastal pads are overwhelmingly located in the south west of the country, while anyone looking for a more affordable seaside town to call home should head north of the border.
Sandbanks in Poole, Dorset is home to several million pound homes and the average property in the area comes in at £665,000, more than any other seaside town in the country.
Salcombe in Devon and Padstow in Cornwall are close behind, with property prices of £539,950 and £443,396 respectively, according to the latest research from Halifax.

"Seaside towns are highly popular places to live, offering sought-after scenery, weather and lifestyle which no doubt come at a price," said Halifax economist Martin Ellis, in its seaside town review.

"They also attract those looking for holiday properties, which add upward pressure on house prices, which our research shows have increased by an average of £440 per month since 2006. If you're looking for a bargain, it's still easier to find the further north you go, where the average price in several areas is still below £100,000," he added.
Anyone after a more affordable sea view should head to Port Bannatyne in Scotland, where homes on average are just £77,132.
