ALTHOUGH shares in J D Wetherspoon are up by 24 per cent over the last year, continued pressure on its margins, and no major sporting events in 2013, mean that it may not be a cheerful year for the pub chain. ETX Capital quotes a price of 516.22p-519.78p.

Shares in ASOS more than doubled in 2012. The online retailer is an attractive structural growth story, and is expected to report retail sales expansion of 30 per cent on Thursday, as well as enhanced margins. Spreadex quotes a price of 2606p-2623p.

Shares in Bovis Homes grew by 43 per cent in 2012, as the housing sector continued its rebound. Further growth is expected, and the homebuilder looks more attractive than its peers. IG quotes a price of 626p-631p.
