COMPANY NEWS
● Telecity announces today. It specialises in the design, build and management of highly connected, resilient and secure environments. Also announcing today is Vedanta, the FTSE 100 metals and mining company, whose business is principally located in India.

● Tomorrow, Intercontinental Hotels announces. Investors hope the results don’t cause sleepless nights.

● International Power, formed after the demerger of National Power, also announces tomorrow. As does Greggs, the FTSE 250 bakery chain famous for its popular sausage rolls.

● On Wednesday, the Edinburgh-headquartered Standard Life announces. It was founded in 1821 as the Insurance Company of Scotland.

● TUI Travel, the FTSE 250 international leisure travel group, also announces on Wednesday. It is headquartered in Crawley in West Sussex and employs approximately 49,000 people.

● On Friday, EnQuest will announce. EnQuest is a petroleum exploration and production company operating exclusively in the UK continental shelf. It was formed in April 2010 by a combination of the demerged British North Sea assets of Petrofac and Lundin Petroleum.

ECONOMICS
● Tomorrow, the Federal Reserve will announce its decision on rates, with Ben Bernanke’s press conference to follow later in the day. Nobody expects the rate to move from 0.25 per cent. Also tomorrow, the UK will release a plethora of economic data on manufacturing production, non-EU trade balance, goods trade balance and industrial production.

● On Wednesday, the Bank of England publishes its quarterly inflation report. Fan predictions will no doubt forecast that inflation will trend down in the longer-term, while staying above target for now. Also on Wednesday, Germany will release CPI inflation figures.

POLITICAL NEWS
● On Monday, the US Congress breaks for a four-week recess. Many Americans wish it was longer.

● Deputy chief to the US’s mission in Tokyo James Zumwal is expected to attend next Tuesday’s peace ceremony in Nagasaki, to mark the 66th anniversary of the atomic bombing of that city.

● Following rioting at a migrant centre near the southern Italian port of Bari last week, the Italian government has promised to respond to the demonstrators’ demands by Wednesday. Along with the Eurozone crisis, the issue of immigration is dividing Europe’s nations and threatening the basis on which European nations came together.
