Mapped: These are London’s “filthiest” supermarkets
Hygiene inspectors have found around a third of Britain's "filthiest supermarkets" are located in London, according to data from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) crunched by the Mirror.
The FSA ranking stretches from zero which means urgent improvement is required, to "5" which means the hygiene standards are very good. Those listed were among a handful of more than 11,000 across the UK which were slapped with a "zero" rating by local authority inspectors.
London supermarkets in the top 14 include: Fine Foods in Harlesden, Sira Cash & Carry in Southall, Abbey Wood Afro Caribbean Cash & Carry in Willesden and Cheam Food Centre in Sutton.
Leicester also fared particularly badly with Yours Supermarket, Spar on Millstone Lane and Co-op on Evington Road all ranked.
Pound Box in Preston, Iqbal Cash & Carry in Rochdale, Pak Supermarket in Birmingham, Poundland on Corporation Street in Birmingham, Beer Bank in Walsall in the West Midlands and Aberavon Supermarket in Port Talbot in South Wales made up the rest of the list.
All the rating listed on the independent government department's website are based on the last inspection by the FSA, meaning improvements could've been made since then. They were taken from the website at 9.30am on Tuesday morning.
