Three charged over Tottenham Europa League pitch invasions

THREE men have been charged in relation to the pitch invasions that caused Tottenham’s Europa League fixture against Partizan Belgrade to be halted last week.

Players were shepherded off the pitch shortly before half-time and the match suspended for around 10 minutes after a third breach of security at White Hart Lane during Thursday’s contest.

Nathaniel Thompson, 23, of Harringay, Helder Gomes, 22, of Stockwell, and Daniel Jarvis, 26, of Gravesend were arrested at the game. They have been charged with pitch invasion and bailed.

The trio appeared to wear matching shirts which bore the name of headphone maker BassBuds, leading to speculation they had devised the stunt for marketing purposes. Internet prank group Troll Station was also linked with the incidents.

BassBuds on Saturday said they had engaged Troll Station to give away products at the match but not to wear their merchandise or invade the pitch, adding they were “disappointed” and “distressed”.

Tottenham could face a fine from European football chiefs for the security breaches.
