Tooting By-Election: Simon Hogg favourite to retain the seat in a two-horse race with the Conservatives
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan simultaneously won City Hall and triggered a by-election by standing down from his job as MP for Tooting.
While no candidate has yet been announced the election will take place on 9 or 16 June, and is anticipated to be a two-horse race between Labour and the Conservatives.
Local councillor Simon Hogg is favourite to be the Labour candidate, while Labour looks set to retain the seat.

Hogg is 2/1 favourite to be the candidate with Ladbrokes, while Labour is 1/3 to win the seat and the Tories are 2/1 second favourite.
With Betway Hogg is 5/2 favourite with Labour offered at 2/9 to hold the seat against 3/1 on a Conservative gain.
And while unlikely to be chosen, Emily Brothers, Labour's first openly transgender candidate, has applied to be selected by the party.

Labour will select its candidate on Saturday.
Meanwhile, George Galloway, recently defeated in his mayoral bid, is expected to make a stand – though with little chance of victory.
In May last year Khan was re-elected as Labour MP for Tooting with a majority of 2,842 votes on turnout of 69.9 per cent.
