Tube chaos: Severe delays hit Metropolitan Line and Victoria Line
Commuters faced another day of chaos on the Tube today as severe delays struck two London Underground lines a day after no service on the Northern Line.
The Metropolitan Line and Victoria Line were both running severe delays this morning as Transport for London (TfL) urged passengers to find alternative routes into work.

An earlier customer incident caused issues on the Victoria Line, leading TfL to make tickets valid on South Western Railway, Southeastern and local buses.
Meanwhile a botched rollout of a new signalling system on the Met Line continued to cause problems two days after it was introduced.
Severe delays hit the line between Uxbridge and Harrow-on-the-Hill “while we establish our new signalling system”, TfL said. Minor delays affected the rest of the line.
Passengers’ tickets are valid on Overground trains, Chiltern Railways and bus routes.
Yesterday TfL was forced to introduce a reduced service on the line as it tried to bed in the new system.
Commuters faced hours of disruption elsewhere too yesterday as the entire Northern Line was suspended due to signalling failures.
The problems, which began at around 5.30am, continued all day and forced Londoners to take taxis to other stations and buses to avoid all four branches of the Line.
Brian Woodhead, London Underground’s director of customer service, apologised to commuters.

“I am extremely sorry for the disruption suffered by customers on the Northern line today following a signalling system failure at our control centre,” he said.
“Our engineers are working hard to fix the problem and restore a full service as quickly as possible.”
