Two Ryanair planes clip wings after collision at Dublin Airport causing flight delays

Two Ryanair planes have clipped each other while on the runways at Dublin Airport this morning, prompting an investigation by local authorities. 

 

The incident, which was tweeted about by at least one of the passengers, doesn't appear to have been too serious: minor delays have been reported but there is no suggestion of any injury to anyone on board.

According to a Ryanair statement, “the winglet of one aircraft appears to have scraped the tail of the other”. 

 

It added: “Both aircraft were under the instruction of Dublin Airport Air Traffic Control at the time… Affected customers will board two replacement aircraft which will depart to Brussels Charleroi and Edinburgh later this morning. 

 

"Ryanair apologises sincerely to customers for any inconvenience."

 

According to the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA),  emergency services attended the scene and the Air Accident Investigation Unit will conduct a further investigation. 

 

"Dublin Airport is now fully operational, although passengers may anticipate some delays as a result of this morning's incident,” it added.
