Van der Vaart and Bale fitness doubts for Bremen showdown
TOTTENHAM are sweating on the fitness of Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart ahead of their potentially decisive Champions League tie at home to Werder Bremen tonight.
Fresh from their 3-2 victory in the north London derby, Spurs will be looking to all but book their place in the last 16 with a win over the German side, but may have to do so without two of their goalscorers from Saturday. Bale has a shoulder problem, while the Dutchman has an ankle knock. After waiting 17 years for a victory at Arsenal, Redknapp is hoping his side carry the euphoria from that victory into tonight.
“It must give us confidence,” he said. “Hopefully it will be springboard for the rest of our season.”
